Simple Transistor Tester

This simple electronic circuit project has helped me out on many occasions. It is able to check transistors, in the circuit, down to 40 ohms across the collector-base or base-emitter junctions. It can also check the output power transistors on amplifier circuits. Transistor Tester Circuit Diagram: Circuit operation is as follows.  The 555 timer ( IC1 ) is set up as a 12hz multi vibrator. The output on pin 3 drives the 4027 flip-flop (IC2). This flip-flop divides the input frequency by two and delivers complementary voltage outputs to pin 15 and 14. The outputs are connected to LED1 and LED2 through the current limiting resistor R3. The LED's are arranged so that when the polarity across the circuit is one way only one LED will light and when the polarity reverses the other LED will light, therefore when no transistor is connected to the tester the LED's will alternately flash. The IC2 outputs are also connected to resistors R4 and R5 with the junction of these two resistors co...

Simple Crystal Tester Circuit Diagram

Simple Crystal Tester Circuit Diagram. Most electronics project working with high frequency utilizes crystal in order to generate frequency as oscillator. It is used instead of coil. Coil can be checked with multi-meter if there is any fault, but checking of crystal completely is difficult. In order to solve this problem a simple project using few components is designed call crystal tester. This circuit consist two NPN transistors, two diode with few passive component. The crystal under test is combining with transistor T1 which further work as oscillator. The combination of transistor T1, crystal under test and capacitors C1 and C2 is work as colpiitt oscillator. If the testing crystal is good then it works as oscillator with transistor T1. The output of oscillator is rectified and filtered by diode D1 and capacitor C2 respectively and given to base of transistor T2. The signal given to base conduct transistor which further glow the LED connected to the collector through resistor R3. ...

Universal Tester for 3 pin Devices

Most 3-terminal active components can be  tested statically using just an ohmmeter. But  when you have a lot of these devices to test,  the procedure soon becomes boring. That’s  where the idea came from to combine fast,  easy testing for these types of device into a  single instrument. The unit described here enables you to test  NPN and PNP bipolar transistors, N-or Pchannel FETs or MOSFETs, UJTs, triacs, and thyristors. Regardless of the type of device, the  tests are non-destructive. Universal connectors allow testing of all package types, including SMDs (up to a point). The unit lets you  change from one type of device to another in  a trice. It avoids using a multi-pole switch, as  they’re too expensive and hard to find. Circuit diagram : Universal Tester for 3-pin Devices Circuit Diagram Here’s how to build a versatile instrument at  a ridiculously low cost. IC1 is a 4066 quad CMOS switch which will let us switch between bipolar transistors and FETs. LEDs D1–D4 tell us abou...
