Novel Liquid Level Sensor

Normally, the level of a liquid in a container is determined by sensing changes in the capacitance or resistance between a pair of electrodes that are immersed in the liquid. Generally speaking, this technique requires fairly complicated circuitry to protect the electrodes against electrolysis (and associated corrosion). In addition, in many cases the liquid must be conductive for the measurement principle to actually be usable. The circuit presented here shows that an alternative approach is possible. Circuit diagram: Novel Liquid-Level Sensor Circuit Diagram Here we utilise the fact that a PTC resistor warms up in pro-portion to the amount of current flowing through it, with the result that its resistance increases. If a PTC resistor is immersed in a liquid, the additional warmth is dissipated in the liquid and the resistance remains nearly constant. If the level of the liquid drops below the immersion depth of the resistor, the change in the resistance can be easily sensed by...

Light Level Indicator Using a Window Comparator

The second example below uses a LDR (light dependent resistor) to indicate some desired light level. The LDR has a large dynimic range and varies in resistance from less than 100 ohms on a cloudy day to over a megohm in total darkness. A 2K pot was used to adjust the window range for usual room light conditions. This setup might also be used to indicate sunrise/sunset conditions. Light Level Indicator  Circuit Diagram

Project of Remote Audio Level Indicator Circuit Diagram

Remote Audio Level Indicator Circuit Diagram. The normal level-indicator circuits which are available in the market require connections to be made to the output of the player, which may not be easily accessible. The audio level indicator circuit described here removes this restriction as it may be placed close to the player’s speakers and yet the desired effect can be realized. Remote Audio Level Indicator Circuit Diagram : Remote Audio Level Indicator Circuit Diagram As shown in the circuit, signals are picked up by the condenser microphone, which get further amplified by the noninverting amplifier built around one of the four op-amps of LM324. The remaining three, along with four op-amps of the second LM324, are used as seven comparators to work as the level detector, giving seven output levels through seven coloured LEDs.  The sensitivity of the audio level indicator circuit may be improved by varying the 220k potentiometer. If a fine adjustment is desired, a 4.7-kilohm potent...

Battery Level Monitor Circuit

Battery Level Monitor Circuit This simple circuit can monitor the charging process in 12 Volt Lead Acid battery or Tubular battery. The status of LED indicates whether the battery is accepting charge or not. It also indicates the full charge condition. Battery Level Monitor Circuit Diagram The circuit can be incorporated in any battery charger like 6 volt, 9 volt, 12 volt etc. The only change needed is replacement of the Zener ZD with appropriate value. That is for 6 volt charger , use 6.1 volt Zener and for 9 volt charger it should be 9.1 volt Zener. The circuit is based on the switching of two NPN transistors (BC547) to drive the corresponding LED. Zener diode ZD is connected to the base of T1 so as to switch on T1 when the Zener conducts. This happens only when the battery voltage is above 12 volts. Green LED lights when the battery voltage is normal or battery attains full charge. Resistor R1 and Preset VR adjust the base bias of T1 for smooth switching. When T1 conducts, base of T...

Water Level Controller

In most houses, water is first stored in an underground tank (UGT) and from there it is pumped up to the overhead tank (OHT) located on the roof. People generally switch on the pump when their taps go dry and switch off the pump when the overhead tank starts overflowing. This results in the unnecessary wastage and sometimes non-availability of water in the case of emergency. The simple circuit presented here makes this system automatic, i.e. it switches on the pump when the water level in the overhead tank goes low and switches it off as soon as the water level reaches a pre determined level. It also prevents ‘dry run’ of the pump in case the level in the underground tank goes below the suction level . In the figure, the common probes connecting the underground tank and the overhead tank to +9V supply are marked ‘C’. The other probe in underground tank, which is slightly above the ‘dry run’ level, is marked ‘S’. The low-level and high-level probes in the overhead tank are marked ‘...

Water Level Alert Circuit Schematic

Beeper or flashing LED alert, 1.5V battery powered portable unit This circuit will emit an intermittent beep (or will flash a LED) when the water contained into a recipient has reached the desired level. It should be mounted on top of the recipient (e.g. a plastic tank) by means of two crocodile clips, acting also as probes. If a deeper sensing level is needed, the clips can be extended by means of two pieces of stiff wire (see pictures). Circuit operation: IC1, a 555 CMos timer chip, is wired as an astable multivibrator whose operating frequency is set by C1, R1 and R2, plus the resistance presented by water across the probes. If the resistance across the probes is zero (i.e. probes shorted), the output frequency will be about 3Hz and the sounder will beep (or the LED will flash) about three times per second. As water usually presents a certain amount of resistance, the actual oscillation frequency will be lower: less than one beep/flash per second. As probes will be increasingly imme...

Water Level Indicator Circuit

Simple, two-wire, remote monitoring unit, Three-LED level display, 9V battery powered The whole project was developed on a friend's request. Its purpose was to remotely monitor the water-level in a metal tank located in the attic by means of a very simple control unit placed in the kitchen, some floors below. Mains requirements were: No separate supply for the remote circuit Main and remote units connected by a thin two-wire cable Simple LED display for the main unit Battery operation to avoid problems related to mains supply and water proximity As the circuit was battery operated a low current consumption was obviously welcomed The very small remote unit is placed near the tank and measures the water level in three ranges by means of two steel rods. Each range will cover one third of the tank capacity: Almost empty - signaled by means of a red LED (D3) in the control unit display About half-level - signaled by means of a yellow LED (D2) in the control unit display Almost full - ...

LM4990 2 Watt Audio Power Amplifier with Selectable Shutdown Logic Level

LM4990-2 Watt Audio Power Amplifier with Selectable Shutdown Logic Level .The LM4990 is an audio power amplifier primarily designed for demanding applications in mobile phones and other portable communication device applications. It is capable of delivering 1.25 watts of continuous average power to an 8Ω BTL load and 2 watts of continuous average power (LD and MH only) to a 4Ω BTL load with less than 1% distortion (THD+N+N) from a 5VDC power supply. Boomer audio power amplifiers were designed specifically to provide high quality output power with a minimal amount of external components. The LM4990 does not require output coupling capacitors or bootstrap capacitors, and therefore is ideally suited for mobile phone and other low voltage applications where minimal power consumption is a primary requirement.  Circuit Diagram :   2 Watt Audio Power Amplifier with Selectable Shutdown Logic Level The LM4990 features a low-power consumption shutdown mode. To facilitate this, Shutdown ...
