How to Make a Simple Inverter Circuit at Home

The 60 Hz inverter shown below is about as simple to make and as inexpensive as one could desire. Yes, it is capable of providing some very useful services. Operating from an automobile battery, it can supply 50 W for the operation of such devices as an ac-dc radio, electric shaver, fluorescent lamp, small soldering iron, 40 W incandescent lamp, recorder, or portable phonograph. Its essential ingredients are a filament transformer and two general-purpose germanium power transistors. Although this is a saturable-core oscillator, no separate feedback windings are employed. Rather, feedback is produced by cross-coupled connections in the manner of a multivibrator. At a full load, the efficiency is in the vicinity of 75 percent, and the output voltage is about 106 V. The "mild" pi-section filter despikes the output waveform and causes a trapezoid wave, rather than the usual square wave, to be available at the output. This makes the device more suitable for the operation of radios...

Lock Down USB Ports via a PIC Based Smart Card Reader

What i am making here is a USB lock with smartcard key. The idea is that a phonecard reader made with a PIC micro will be able to store a number of different phonecards into memory. Whenever one of these cards is inserted into the slot, it will activate a 4-ports USB On/Off switch. If the card is removed, the USB ports will be de-activated. [ ]

First LED lamp that replaces a 100 watt incandescent

Already reached the market the first LED lamp that replaces 100 watt incandescent bulb, this was the announcement of Osram Sylvania. She becomes the first to do is replace the new lamp will join the existing line of Ultra LED 40, 60 and 75 watt (equivalent to incandescent powers), it consumes 20 watts and have a lifespan of 25,000 hours about 25 times more than incandescent bulbs. It has a CRI of 80, an illumination of 1,600 lumens and a warm white color temperature of 2700k. It also is adjustable and, of course, free of mercury and lead. First LED lamp that replaces a 100 watt incandescent

Testing the Photovoltaic Effect with a Transistor

Most photovoltaic cells are made of silicon chip above which there resides a very thin layer of noble metal through which around 1% of photon particles enter the material and activates electron flow. Here I’m showing how to make one simple solar panel using transistor. [ ]

A Comparative Study between two 32 bit microcontrollers the Atmel AT91SAM3X8E and the Microchip PIC32MX250F128B

As previously mentioned (http://www.blogspot.com/2016/09/200000-views-ithaca-arm-and-dmips.html) I’m doing an independent study under the supervision of Professor Bruce Land here at Cornell University. A semester has passed and I will be continuing my independent study next semester. The independent study (that I'm doing and will be continuing) is on exploring and comparing the peripheral modules of the Microchip PIC32MX250F128B (on the Microstick II platform) and the Atmel AT91SAM3X8E (on the Arduino Due platform). This semester, I've done a good amount of introductory exploration of the two 32-bit microcontrollers. Here are the links to the datasheets of the two microcontrollers on which my independent study is based: AT91SAM3X8E: www.atmel.com/Images/doc11057.pdf PIC32MX250F128B: http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/61168E.pdf The Microchip PIC32MX250F128B is a 32-bit RISC microcontroller based on the MIPS M4K core. In this independent study, I have used the Micro...

Basic Components for a Home Theater

Many people never bother looking into purchasing a home theater through sheer fear of the decisions that may need to be made in the process. Many among these aren’t even sure of exactly which components are included in a home theater or which ones are needed in order to create an effective and entertaining home theater. For this reason, many people simply do not bother going through the process of looking at their options when it comes to these wonderful systems on the market today much less ever bother actually purchasing one. Basic Components for a Home Theater If you are one of the many who has experienced some degree of confusion when it comes to the individual parts and pieces that are included in a home theater system and what they do, hopefully you will gain a better understanding once you’ve finished reading. The first thing to understand is that there are varying degrees when it comes to home theaters. The following components are the makings of a very basic home theater that...

Tutorial Making a Digital Counter Up 0 to 9 using IC 7490

Description counter 0-9 This counter 0-9 in easy to assemble, basic to use for other more complex where we make use of integrated circuits didactically as these could be replaced by other more complex circuits with simple application of microcontrollers. Counter operation 0-9. This counter circuit is formed by a generator essentially comprises a wave 555 which functions as a circuit astable multivibrator operating this type is characterized by an output square waveform with width defined by the designer. The outgoing wave frequency can be controlled by the resistor is connected between pins 7-8 and 2-7 in addition to the electrolytic capacitor connected to pin 2 of land. The pulse output can be varied by 100K ohm potentiometer (RV1). Circuit counter The 7490 is a counter asynchronous decades BCD to binary, this counter counts the falling edges of the clock pulses generated by 555, 4 outputs move counter to count in binary 0 in BCD (0000) to 9 BCD (1001). A Very Useful Timed Beeper Circuit Schematic

Beeps 7.5 seconds after a preset time, Adjustable time settings: 15s. 30s. 1min. & others This circuit is intended for alerting purposes after a certain time is elapsed. It is suitable for table games requiring a fixed time to answer a question, or to move a piece etc. In this view it is a modern substitute for the old sandglass. Useful also for time control when children are brushing teeth (at least two minutes!), or in the kitchen, and so on. Building a Bazz Fuss fuzz pedal

Hey, what should we do today? How about making a fuzz pedal? Cool, I knew you were up for it. As you may be aware, I’ve recently been helping my friend Adam with a few guitar projects and he was keen to get started on pedal making (specifically a fuzz pedal). I suggested the Bazz Fuss as an easy starter project. It’s only 5 components (and a pot) and it sounds good too. It's designed primarily for a bass guitar, but it sounds great with a normal guitar too. Here it is (note that I laid mine out slightly differently, and I eventually swapped the 10k resistor for a 100k one): [from http://diyyoguitare.hautetfort.com/archive/2010/07/13/bazz-fuss.html] And here's my very professional layout: Since I hadn’t already made a Bazz Fuss myself, I decided it might be fun to do so. Apart from having one for myself, it would be handy to have one to refer to if Adam ran into any issues while he made his. I decided to challenge myself a bit and see if I could fit it into a Hammond 1590A enclo...

Build a Digital Theremin Circuit Diagram

Theremin circuit shown in this schematic diagram uses digital component, so we can call it a digital Theremin. This circuit employs  logic inverter 74C04 or CD4069 hex inverter and CD4046 phase-locked-loop (PLL) IC.  The CD4069 logic inverter is operated as a fixed-frequency oscillator with  frequency around 100kHz. The CD4046 is operated as a variable frequency oscillator which is adjustable around 100kHz. The exact center frequency of the on-chip oscillator is determined by R4, C2 and R3. Here is the schematic diagram of the circuit.  Digital Theremin Circuit Diagram The frequency of variable oscillator frequency circuit can be shifted several kilohertz by moving your hand approaching the antenna since the C2 and the antenna form an equivalent parallel capacitance. The frequency of the variable oscillator should be set to the same frequency of fixed oscillator when there is no hand or human body close to the antenna.  This  calibration is done by adjustin...

Building a Simple Wireless Energy Transfer Circuit step by step

In this article, I will show you how to build a simple Wireless Energy Transfer Circuit. It's really simple circuit made of 5 parts, even a beginner shouldn't have any problems with building this. Wireless energy transfer circuit I also improved it since my last video, made better secondary coils that work on larger/longer distances. Things you will need: 1. Transistor BD139 Transistor BD139 Or you can use these alternatives: BD135, BD137, 2N4921, 2N4922, 2N4923, BDW55, BDW57, BDW59. (You need only one, not all of them) 2. Foil capacitor 1nF 100V Foil capacitor 1nF 100V Voltage should be more than 16V, you should use this one because of its size (it will fit on PCB as we need it) Note that: 1000 means 1000pF = 1nF tags: Wireless Energy Transfer Circuit 3. Foil capacitor 4.7nF - 100V Note: 4700 = 4700pF = 4.7nF 4. Foil capacitor 100nF - 63V Note: 0.1 means 0.1uF here; 100nF 5. Resistor 5k6 Ohm, 0.5W Resistor 5k6 Ohm, 0.5W 6. And a 5x6 holes large piece of universal PCB. 5x6 hole...
