Touch Switch using NE555

The series of touch switch or touch switch is built by IC NE555, a series of touch switches can be used to turn on lights, alarms or other electronic equipment. This circuit uses 2 pieces of metal plate media as touch, MP1 (Metal Plate 1) and MP2 (Metal Plate 2). Touch switch circuit is equipped with a visual LED indicator for relay status (load active). To enable (Relay ON) can be done by touching the surface of MP1 and to turn it off by touching the surface of the MP2. MP1 and MP2 in touch this switch can use a small piece of copper (diameter 5mm) was enough. Touch Switch series with NE555. Light Operated Light Switch

Here is a light-operated, remote-controlled solidstate switch to operate a lamp. During darkness, the resistance of LDR shoots up to meg-ohm range. Thus, the triac does not get gate drive and hence it does not conduct. Circuit diagram: Light-Operated Light Switch Circuit Diagram When LDR is illuminated by means of a torch-light beam, the resistance of LDR suddenly decreases (below 10-kilo-ohm). This causes the triac to conduct and switch  ‘on’ the lamp. Light received from the lamp (not from the torch) keeps LDR’s resistance low. So, the lamp re-mains continuously ‘on’. Once the lamp is‘on’, it can be switched  ‘off’ again by in-terrupting the light falling on LDR, by either waving hand in front of it or by interrupting power supply to the circuit for a moment. RFC emplo-yed here can be made by winding about 15 turns of 18 SWG wire over an insulated ferrite rod. Author : Pradeep G.  - Copyright :electronicsforu

Automatic TV Lighting Switch

The author is the happy owner of a television set with built-in Ambilight lighting in the living room. Unfortunately, the television set in  the bedroom lacks this feature. To make up for this, the author attached a small lamp to the wall to provide background lighting, This makes  watching television a good deal more enjoyable, but it ’s  not the ideal solution. Although the TV set can be  switched off with the remote  control, you still have to get out of bed to switch off the lamp. Circuit diagram : Automatic TV Lighting Switch Circuit Diagram Consequently, the author devised this automatic lighting switch that switches the background light on and off along with the T V set. The entire circuit is fitted in series with the mains cable of the TV set, so there’s no need to tinker with the set. It works as follows: R1 senses  the current drawn by the TV  set. It has a maximum value  of 50 mA in standby mode,  rising  to around ...

Long Delay Stop Switch

Long-Delay Stop Switch Circuit Diagram . Presettable times for train stops in stations are indispensable if you want to operate your model railway more or less realistically according to a timetable. This circuit shows how a 555 timer can be used with a relatively small timing capacitor to generate very long delay times as necessary by using a little trick (scarcely known among model railway electronic technicians): pulsed charging of the timing net-work. Such long delays can be used in hidden yards with through tracks, for instance.  As the timer is designed for half-wave operation, it requires only a single lead to the transformer and one to the switching track or reed contact when used with a Märklin AC system (H0 or H1). The other lead can be connected to any desired grounding point for the common ground of the track and lighting circuits. Long-Delay Stop Switch Circuit Diagram As seen from the outside, the timer acts as a monostable flip-flop. The output (pin 3) is low in the...

Keyboard Mouse Switch Unit

Unplugging or re-connecting equipment to the serial COM or PS2 connector always gives problems if the PC is running. Even if you only need to swap a mouse or changeover from a graphics keyboard to a standard keyboard. The chances are that the connected equipment will not communicate with the PC, it will always be necessary to re-boot. If you are really unlucky you may have damaged the PC or the peripheral device. In order to switch equipment successfully it is necessary to follow a sequence. The clock and data lines need to be disconnected from the device before the power line is removed. And likewise the power line must be connected first to the new device before the clock and data lines are re-connected. This sequence is also used by the USB connector but achieved rather more simply by using different length pins in the connector. The circuit shown here in Figure 1 performs the switching sequence electronically. The clock and data lines from the PC are connected via the N.C. contacts...

Video Switch for Intercom System

Video Switch for Intercom System Circuit Diagram. Nowadays a lot of intercom units are  equipped with video cameras so that you can  see as well as hear who is at the door. Unfortunately, the camera lens is perfectly placed  to serve as a sort of support point for people  during the conversation, with the result that  there’s hardly anything left see in the video  imagery.  One way to solve this problem is to install two cameras on the street side instead only  one, preferably some distance apart. If you  display the imagery from the two cameras  alternately, then at least half of the time you  will be able to see what is happening in front  of the door. Thanks to the video switch module described  here, which should be installed on the street  side not too far away from the two cameras,  you need only one monitor inside the house and you don’t need to install any additional video cables.   Circuit diagram :...

Sound Activated Lamp Relay Switch Circuit

This simple Sound-Activated Lamp circuit shown int the schematic diagram actives the switch using sound. We can use this circuit for various applications, such as automatic (sound-controlled) disco light or car’s LED light show.  The Q1 amplify the audio from mic. The R1 is used to adjust the peak of signal to greater than about 0.7 volts, act as sensitivity adjuster. A certain level, the signal coming from microphone, after amplification by Q1, will trigger the SCR and light lamp I1. If we change the lamp with a relay, then we can get a sound-activated relay/switch, which can be used to control more powerful / high wattage high voltage lamps. If we use a relay, place a 1N4007 diode in parallel with the relay coil to prevent the back-emf from  relay coil destroying the SCR.  Sound-Activated Lamp Circuit Diagram

Remote controlled appliance switch circuit

Here is a versatile remote controlled appliance switch that can ON or OFF any appliance connected to it using a TV remote. IR remote sensor IC TSOP 1738 is used for recieving the signal. Normally when no signal is falling on IC3 the output of it will be high. This makes Q1 OFF.When a signal of 38 KHz from the TV remote falls on the IC3 its output goes low. This makes Q1 conduct and a negative pulse is obtained at pin 2 of IC 1 NE 555.Due to this IC1 wired as a monostable multivibrator produces a 4 Sec long high signal at its out put. This high out put is the clock for IC 2 which is wired as a Flipflop and of , its two outputs pin 3 goes low and pin 2 goes high. The high output at pin 2 is amplified to drive the relay .For the next signal the outputs of IC2 toggles state. Result, we get a relay toggling on each press on the remote.Any appliance connected to this circuit can be switched ON or OFF. Circuit Diagram Notes. Before wiring the circuit make sure that the carrier frequency of the...

TRANSISTOR AS A SWITCH WORKING

WORKING OF TRANSISTOR AS A SWITCH The process of applying DC voltages across the different terminals of a transistor is called Biasing. For normal operation the emitter-base junction is always forward biased while the collector base junction is reverse biased. Lets look how TRANSISTOR ACT AS A SWITCH The switching action of a bipolar junction transistor can be explained easily with the help of its output characteristics. Transistor mainly works on mainly three regions ACTIVE SATURATION CUTOFF TRANSISTOR IS IN ON CONDITION WHEN IT IS IN SATURATION MODE. And in OFF state when transistor is in CUTOFF REGION. When a transistor is working as a switch, the cutoff and saturation regions are the stable regions of its operation, while active region is the unstable state To make a transistor in off mode, make Vce=Vcc in common emitter configuration, where Vcc is the supply voltage and Vce is the voltage across collector-emitter terminal. Simillarly, to make Transistor ON we have to give or main...

Speaker Headphone Switch Circuit Diagram For Computers

If you need to use a headset with your PC, then you will know how frustrating it is continuously swapping over speaker and microphone cables. This is even worse if the PC is parked in a dark corner and the hard-to-read writing on the sound card sockets is covered in dust. This simple switch box eliminates all these problems. It sits on top of the desk and connects to the PC with stereo one-to-one cables. On the rear of the box are sockets for the PC speaker and microphone connections and the existing speakers. On the front of the box are the sockets for the headset microphone and headphones, an input for an external microphone and two switches. One switch is used to direct the sound card output from the PC to either the existing speakers or the headphones. Circuit diagram: Speaker-Headphone SwitchCircuit Diagram The second switch connects either the headset microphone or the external microphone to the input socket of the PC sound card. Solid State Switch For Dc Operated Gadgets

This solid state DC switch can be assembled using just three transistors and some passive components. It can be used to switch on one gadget while switching off the second gadget with momentary operation of switch. To reverse the operation, you just have to momentarily depress another switch. The circuit operates over 6V-15V DC supply voltage. It uses positive feedback from transistor T2 to transistor T1 to keep this transistor pair in latched state (on/ off), while the state of the third transistor stage is the complement of transistor T2’s conduction state. Initially when switch S3 is closed, both transistors T1 and T2 are off, as no forward bias is available to these, while the base of transistor T3 is effectively grounded via resistors R8 and R6 (shunted by the load of the first gadget). As a result, transistor T3 is forward biased and gadget 2 gets the supply. This is indicated by glowing of LED2. Circuit diagram : Solid-State Switch For Dc-Operated Gadgets Circuit Diagram ...

Fan and Air Conditioner Control Switch Project

The circuit consists of power supply and control sections. The power supply section is built around transformer X1, bridge rectifier BR1 and filter capacitor C1. The 50Hz, 230V AC mains is stepped down by transformer X1 to deliver a secondary output of 9V, 300 mA. The transformer output is rectified by the bridge rectifier and filtered by capacitor C1. When the mains is switched on for the first time, pin 3 of IC CD4017 (IC1) goes high and relay RL1 energises to switch on the fan. When mains is briefly switched off using S1 and then switched on, the power to IC1 is maintained by the charge on capacitor C1. At the same time, there is a trigger pulse on the clock input (pin 14) of IC1, which advances the decade counter and relay RL2 energises to switch-on the air-conditioner. Both the air-conditioner and the fan will be turned off if the switch is in the ‘off’ position. Assemble the circuit on a general-purpose PCB and enclose in a suitable case. Fix the unit onto the switchboard. Use re...

Simple Switch Mode Power Supply

The SMPS described here is suit-able for high-wattage stereos and other similar equipment. The circuit employs two high-voltage power transistors (BU208D) which have built-in re-verse-connected di-odes across their collectors and emitters. It can supply about 250-watt out-put. The circuit uses a ferrite core transformer of 14mm width, 20mm height, and 42mm length of E-E cores. An air gap of 0.5 mm is required between E-E junction. Good insulation using plastic-insulating sheets (Mylar) is to be maintained between each layer of winding. Circuit diagram: Simple Switch Mode Power Supply Circuit Diagram The number of primary turns required is 90 with 26 SWG wire. The secondary winding employs 17 SWG wire (for 4A load current). Each turn of the secondary develops approximately 2 volts. The reader can decide about the output volt-age and the corresponding secondary turns, which would work out to be half the desired secondary voltage. The volt-age rating of capacitors C7 and C8 should be at...

Build a Fog Lamp Switch Circuit Diagram

This is a simple Fog Lamp Switch Circuit Diagram. This circuit recommended to have a rear fog light on a trailer with the additional requirement that, when the trailer is coupled to the car, the rear fog light of the towing car has to be off. The circuit shown here is eminently suitable for this application. The circuit is placed near the rear fog light of the car. The 12-V connection to the lamp has to be interrupted and is instead connected to relay contacts 30 and 87A (K1, K3). When the rear fog light is turned on it will continue to operate normally.  Fog Lamp Switch Circuit Diagram If a trailer with fog light is now connected to the trailer connector (7- or 13-way, K2), a current will flow through L1. L1 is a coil with about 8 turns, wound around reed contact S1. S1 will close because of the current through L1, which in turn energizes relay Re1 and the rear fog light of the car is switched off. The fog light of the trailer is on, obviously. The size of L1 depends on reed conta...

Hard Disk Switch

In these times with viruses and other threats from the Internet it would be nice to have reassurance that the PC cannot be infected. That is why this circuit was designed. It makes it possible to install multiple hard disks inside the case of a PC, which are separated in such a way that viruses cannot move from one disk to another. In this case there are three drives installed, one for use of the Internet via ADSL, one for working with email and one for other applications. If data from the Internet never arrives on the third disk, it is effectively protected against viruses. The solution outlined here has been in satisfactory use for a couple of years. There is an additional benefit: if there are ever any problems with the operation of the computer, then it is very easy to change to another hard disk to check if the problem manifests itself there as well. In this case, fault finding can be made much easier. The circuit operates by only switching over the power supply voltages (5 V and ...
